9-8 Upgrading Your Server
– SSD (solid state drive)
The Onboard RAID controller (LSI Embedded MegaRAID
controller (N8103-129/130) support the Serial ATA (SATA) interface. Up to six solid
state drives (mounted on the dedicated 2.5-inch width tray) can be installed.
*: Up to four solid state drives can be installed when connected onboard.
IMPORTANT:
hard disk drive might cause a failure of the server as well as the solid state drive.
Purchase solid state drives of the following model (current as of June 2010):
– N8150-702 (50GB, SSD)
3.5-inch Disk Model
− SATA hard disk drive
The Onboard RAID controller (LSI Embedded MegaRAID™) or optional RAID
controller (N8103-129/130) supports a serial ATA (SATA) interface. Up to three hard
disk drives (mounted on the dedicated 3.5-inch width tray) can be installed.
IMPORTANT:
hard disk drive might cause a failure of the server as well as the hard disk drive.
Purchase hard disk drives of the following models (current as of June 2010):
– N8150-208A (160GB, 7200rpm, SATA2/300)
– N8150-209A (250GB, 7200rpm, SATA2/300)
– N8150-274 (500GB, 7200rpm, SATA2/300)
– N8150-263 (1TB, 7200rpm, SATA2/300)
– N8150-278 (2TB, 7200rpm, SATA2/300)
The hard disk drive bays are connected to the Mini SAS connector on the motherboard.
To use the hard disk drives in a RAID System, refer to:
− When using the Onboard RAID controller (LSI Embedded MegaRAID™):
Use LSI Software RAID Configuration Utility or Universal RAID Utility to build,
configure, and manage the RAID System.
For details, see "RAID System Configuration" (on page 4-37) and "Universal RAID
Utility" (on page 6-24).
− When using an optional RAID controller (N8103-129/130):
Use WebBIOS or Universal RAID Utility to build, configure, and manage the RAID
System.
For details, refer to the manual that comes with the optional RAID controller, or see
"Universal RAID Utility" (on page 6-24).
