Upgrade from a CB firmware
version lower than 1.22.0
SoftstarterCare is limited in its support for softstarters
with older CB firmware, i.e. parameters backup/restore
is not supported. These parameters must be manually
restored after the firmware upgrade.
Preparation
9.3.2.1

Make sure a standard USB cable - "Mini-USB to
USB" is available.
2.
Order a special jumper cable from the Softstarter
support (se-softstarters-support@abb.com) or
modify an existing cable by connecting three pins
from the COM2 port together as shown in Figure
9.14. The special jumper cable will set the PSTX
Softstarter into boot mode.
3.
Download and install the x86 version (32-bits) of
the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual
Studio 2015 package.
INFORMATION
Download the Visual C++ Redistributable
package (vc_redist.x86.exe) from microsoft.com.
4.
Unzip and Install SoftstarterCare onto the PC.

Unzip the PSTX firmware package.

Make a note of all modified parameters in the PSTX
Softstarter to manually restore them after the firmware
upgrade.
Use the HMI and navigate to Menu
Modified to list the modified parameters. See Figure 9.15
or section 6.4.1.3 Modified for more information.
If the HMI cannot be used for some reason, it is possible
to connect another HMI to the PSTX Softstarter.
