6.13 Replacing an SPD

Prerequisites
Do not replace an SPD during a thunderstorm.

Procedure
Step 1 Turn off the upstream switch for the SPD based on the electrical diagram and
labels.

Material: a new and intact surge protection module of the same model
NO TE
If a surge protection module is damaged, it is recommended that all surge protection
modules be replaced.

Tools: electroprobe, insulated gloves, Phillips screwdriver, flat-head
screwdriver, step ladder
Material: a new and intact SPD of the same model
