with sodium ions. As the water passes through the resin bed, it is conditioned.
Backwash - C1 cycle
The water flow is reversed by the valve and sent downwards along the rising pipe and upwards through the resin
bed. During the backwash cycle, the bed expands and the impurities are flushed towards the drain, while the bed
is remixed.
Brine extraction and slow wash - C2 cycle
The controller sends the water through the brine injector and the brine is extracted from the relevant tank. The
brine is then flushed downwards through the resin bed and upwards through the rising pipe towards the drain. The
calcium ions on the resin beds are replaced by sodium ions and flushed towards the drain. During the brine cycle,
the resin is regenerated. The slow wash phase now starts.
Second backwash - C3 cycle (only units with double backwash)
The water flow is reversed by the valve and sent downwards along the rising pipe and upwards through the resin
bed. During the backwash cycle, the bed expands and the impurities are flushed towards the drain, while the bed
is remixed.
Rapid backwash - C4 cycle
The valve flushes the water downwards through the resin bed and upwards through the rising pipe towards the
drain. Any residual brine is rinse by the resin bed while the resin beads are compacted.
Filling the brine tank - cycle C5
The water is flushed towards the brine tank at a controlled speed by the filling controller [BLFC] to produce the
brine for the next regeneration. While brine tank is being filled, the treated water is already available at the valve
outlet.
