Example: Production cell with safe zone monitoring
In a production cell, injuries to the machine operator must be prevented through the
kinematic movement. To that end, areas are defined in the workspace (workspace zones),
which are monitored for collision with all the moving parts of an industrial robot (kinematic
zones). As long as a sufficient distance can be maintained between the machine operator and
the robot, the robot may continue to move. Only when the machine operator reaches into
the transfer zone (transgression of light curtain) and the robot is in the zone immediately
before the transfer zone at the same time does this zone become the protected zone. The
robot stops its movements.
