KSTU3 Configuration

The KSTU3 hardware has to be configured only for the square wave ring generator voltage
level, nothing else.

KSTU3 Installation

1.
Make sure that the power supply switch is OFF.
2.
Before installing the KSTU3 in the Base KSU, set the SW1 ring generator to 130V P-P
or 190V P-P.
Note

Ensure that the SW2 jumper is set to 'A' Law operation and not Mu Law operation.
4.
Plug the KSTU3 cable into the P4 connector on the motherboard in the Base KSU. The
red wire on the cable should match up with pin 1 on the lower side of the connector.
5.
Plug the KSTU3 P508 female connector into the P8 male connector on the
motherboard.
6.
Secure the KSTU3 to the standoffs with the two provided screws.
7.
Connect the green and yellow earth wire with the two pronge spade by slipping it under
the FG1 or FG2 screw terminal on the power supply unit.

For the system to recognise the Dual-Tone Multi-Frequency (DTMF) tones
generated by standard telephones (or any other device connected to a KSTU3 port),
a K5RCU must be installed in the Base KSU.
Most standard telephones and two-wire devices require 190; however, some devices
may experience ring-trip at 190, and should be set at 130.
