Important Notes on Handling and Operation
Be sure to strictly observe the precautions given herein to maintain the performance and functions of the
model 10000 loop controller L1 of the Toshiba Integrated Controller V Series, and use it safely over a long
period of time to come.
• Toshiba is not liable to any responsibility whatsoever for any inconveniences arising from using the
product contrary to the precautions specified in this manual or to the procedures for installation and
operation specified in laws and ordinances.
• Important points in general
• Place of installation
Secure enough space for maintenance in installing the product. An improper posture during
maintenance work could cause human injuries and technical errors.
• Input power
The rated source voltages are100/240 VAC +10%/-15% and 24 VDC +10%/-15%.
(See the unit specifications.)
Voltages higher than above, if applied, could cause damage to the product.
Exercise care to prevent connection of wires of higher voltages to the power input terminal board and
to be sure of the polarities in wiring it. A power input voltage outside the specified range will cause
malfunctions and inaccuracy.
• Input signals
Do not apply voltages outside the specified range to the signal input terminals. Do not apply external
voltages to the output terminals. This is important to protect the product from ill effects on its
characteristics and from damage.
• Cleaning
To clean the panel, wipe it with tissue paper or a soft cloth dipped in lukewarm water. Do not use
organic solvents or chemicals because such substances could cause discoloration.
• Dielectric test
Observe the following in making a dielectric test on the product.
Apply the AC voltage (specified within parentheses below) between the power terminal and grounding
terminal on the terminal board and check that nothing abnormal occurs. (L1PU11H, L1PU12H, LP01,
LP02, LP03, LP04, LD512H: 500 VAC for 1 minute; PS591: 1500 VAC for 1 minute)
Before conducting a dielectric test, disconnect the power wires and input/output signal wires to protect
the product from damage due to test voltage leakage and technical errors.
The test voltages are much higher than the rated voltages. Therefore, dielectric tests should be
limited to a minimum.
• Prohibition of modifying or disassembling the product
If the product needs repairs, ask your nearest Toshiba service station.
Do not modify or disassemble the product.
Normal operation cannot be guaranteed if the product is modified or disassembled. Never modify or
disassemble the product because it could cause electric shock, malfunctions, and/or failures.
• Recommended parts replacement
The service life of the product is approximately 10 years (varying depending on the conditions of use).
To maintain reliable performance during its service life, it is recommended that the aluminum
electrolytic capacitor (together with the power board) be replaced with a new one.
The board inside the product employs the aluminum electrolytic capacitor, which is an expendable
part and whose service life varies greatly with the ambient temperature. It lasts about 10 years at an
instrument ambient temperature of 35
decreases by about one half as ambient temperature increases 10
