Chapter 2 Mounting, Dismounting

2.1 Before Starting Work

This chapter describes the mounting and removal of the individual units and modules,
and the connection of terminal blocks and cables.
Before starting work, confirm the working conditions and procedures.

Working procedures

• Never disassemble any part other than specified in this manual.
• Be careful when removing the power unit because it has high-voltage parts which may cause

• A place as free of moisture and dust as possible and not exposed to direct sun-
light.
• Avoid abrupt temperature change which might cause condensation.
• Make sure to turn off AC power, and pull out the plug of the power cable before
starting work.
• It is recommended that you wear a pair of gloves to protect yourself from finger
injuries by the edges of a printed circuit board, etc.
• Electronic parts are subject to damage by static charge. Touch a grounded piece
of metal to discharge static from your body before starting work.
• Do not touch any part other than those required.
• Be careful not to lose any screws removed. Do not drop any screw in the main unit.
• Consult your nearest TOSHIBA service shop if any error or failure has occurred.
• Be careful not to let your hands injured by the sharp projections of he printed cir-
cuit boards.
• Make sure to use a screwdriver that fits the screws in fastening a connector, or fix-
ing a card.
An unfit screwdriver will be unstable because of some clearance left in the cross
hole in the screw head. Such a screwdriver, if used, will not transmit the manual
force as necessary, and may damage the cross hole.
