Safety information

CAUTION
The voltage drop between the beginning of the load installation and the actual loads to be
powered during operation with the rated values should not generally exceed 4 %.
Please consult the relevant tables in sheet 5 of standard DIN VDE 0100. The following
notice must be included in the technical user documentation: "The machine manufacturer
must ensure that the voltage drop between the beginning of the load installation and the
PDS does not exceed 4 % during operation with rated values."
(VDE 0100-520)
Check the documented development specifications for the following requirement, inclusion
in production documentation and implementation in the equipment.
Note
When installing the equipment in cabinets, the ventilation slots must be covered to prevent
drill swarf, wire end ferrules, and the like from falling into the housing.
Safety regulations governing shock protection must be observed. Also refer to EN 61800-5-1
and EN 60204–1.
CAUTION
The tightening torque of the DC link busbar screws (1.8 Nm) must be checked before
startup.
To ensure that the encoder system works properly, you are advised to use the original
Siemens accessories from catalog D21.1.
Only motors with a safe electrically isolated holding brake may be connected. The brake
conductors must also be safely electrically isolated.
If the motor power cable is connected to intermediate terminals, the power cables and
brake cables must be routed apart (≥ 300 mm).
After an intermediate terminal (e.g. due to a terminal block), it is best to continue routing
using the approved MOTION-CONNECT cable.
Cable shields and unused conductors of power cables (e.g. brake conductors) must be
connected to PE potential.
Non-observance can cause lethal shock voltages.
If static discharge occurs on surfaces or interfaces that cannot be easily accessed, this can
cause malfunctions and/or defects.
