This section discusses potential print quality problems, what
causes them, and how to resolve them.
Here are some suggestions for maintaining the highest print
quality from your NEC SuperScript 1800 laser printer.
Replace the Toner Cartridge as soon as the display
indicates that replacement is necessary.
Follow the cleaning procedures described in Chapter 8,
"Maintaining Your Printer."
When the print output becomes light, redistribute the
toner. Make sure Toner Save is not specified in the
driver or Operator Panel. If light printouts persist,
replace the Toner Cartridge.
Redistributing the Toner
Use high-quality paper or transparencies to obtain sharp,
crisp characters and maximum contrast. Refer to
Appendix B for detailed specifications.
Clean the appropriate parts of the printer (see Chapter 8
for more information.)
Problem
Solid White
The Toner Cartridge may either be
defective or out of toner.
The Toner Cartridge may be out
of toner. Replace the Toner
Cartridge if necessary.
The Toner Cartridge may be
defective. Remove the Toner
Cartridge and check for damage.
Replace if necessary.

Solid Black

Light Printout
Make sure Toner Save is not
specified in the printer driver or

Clean the inside of the printer.
(see Chapter 8.)
Redistribute the toner in the
Toner Cartridge.
The Toner Cartridge may need
replacing.
Blurred Image
Make sure only recommended
paper is used.
Make sure only fresh, dry paper is
being used.
Make sure the printer was not
bumped during printing and the
surface it is placed on is not
wobbly.
There may be a problem with the
paper feeding mechanism.
