Each DP slave requires a type file so that it can be mounted in
COM ET 200 Windows. A type file describes a slave with regard to the
number of inputs and outputs, number of diagnostic bytes, FREEZE/SYNC
compatibility, possible parameter values, and so on.
Siemens DP slaves have a type file for each station type (see slave
parameters). You can read these type files, but you cannot edit them.
The manufacturers supply the type files for non-Siemens devices. If you do
not receive a type file for a non-Siemens slave which functions in the same
way as a DP standard slave, you can generate a type file yourself with the aid
of COM ET 200 Windows.
COM ET 200 Windows can process only those type files which are in the
"TYPDAT5X" directory in COM ET 200 Windows. Non-language-specific
type files are identified by the "*X.200", extension. English-language type
files are identified by the extension "*E.200".
If you copy new type files into the TYPDAT5X directory while COM ET 200
Windows is running, you must then update the type-file directory with
File Typefile scan.
If type files that you need to operate a DP slave with COM ET 200 Windows
are not at your disposal, you can fetch up-to-date type files by modem from
our mailbox by dialing + 49 911/737972.
To open and read an existing type file:
1. Select File Typefile open.
Result: A list box appears containing the names of all the type files.
2. Select the file name of your choice and confirm by pressing the "OK"
button.
Result: A window containing the type file appears on the screen.
