1.5.1

Battery and charger power configurations

The battery mode consists of the 12-volt battery and a charger. The configuration depends on the
type of charger used: a solar panel charger or a power supply used as charging source.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Battery sizes vary between 8 and 26 ampere hours, depending upon
installation requirements. The battery can be model-option specific, including larger battery
sizes.

1.5.1.1
12-volt battery with solar panel configuration
This battery-powered configuration includes a 12-volt sealed lead acid (SLA) and a solar panel as the
charger. Solar panel chargers are available in 10, 20, and 30-watt kits.
The battery is installed inside the enclosure. The solar panel mounts on the enclosure mounting pipe
or on the roof of a nearby structure.
1.5.1.2
12-volt battery with power supply configuration
This battery-powered configuration includes a 12-volt sealed lead acid (SLA) and a DC power supply
as the charging source. The power supply must be set to 14.5 to 15.5 Vdc and must be rated for 2A
minimum.
1.5.2

External power supply configuration

The external power supply configuration includes a power supply as the power source to the device.
The voltage range must be from 12Vdc to 14Vdc.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Power supplies can be installed outside or inside of enclosures. Power
supplies that are installed inside must be ABB-approved and must fit in the selected
enclosure. Verify the options available for your enclosure size and requirements.

NOT USED
The RTD is a separate sensor which provides the temperature inputs to the XFC
measurement transmitters. This is a 100 Ω platinum RTD designed to measure the real-time flowing
temperature of the process gas. The XFC
