The lithium battery maintains operation of the real time clock. The lithium battery backup is
recommended and can be set onboard with the backup jumper (J13).
The two settings are:
 Enable – Jumper settings 1-2. The lithium battery backs up the real time clock. If power is lost
or disconnected, the real time clock continues to operate until depletion of the lithium battery.
 Disable – Jumper settings 2-3. The lithium battery does not back up the real time clock. The
real time clock will continue to operate for 24-36 hours under typical conditions. The real time
clock will stop operation and lose time without power. At the next startup, the system will
restore the last known good time which can be one of the following:
Last Totalflow Running Time: The last time Totalflow was running or when the power was
lost. This is the time most often used.
OS Build Time: In case the Last Totalflow Running Time could not be retrieved, the build
time of the OS will be used as the last known good time.
If system time is lost, the system and event logs will display the following messages:
 System Log: "System time was lost, so restoring the last known time."
 Event Log in Tube: "System Time Lost."
IMPORTANT NOTE: This procedure assumes the Lithium battery is fully charged and in good
condition. M
easure the voltage across the lithium battery to verify that it registers more than 3.0 V. If
not, use a new battery.
To enable clock backup:
Locate the backup jumper (J13) located near the lithium battery slot
Ensure the lithium battery is installed on the board.
Remove jumper from pins 2 and 3 (default position).
Position the jumper on pins 1 and 2.
