5.1 Intelligent Packing of the column with ÄKTAexplorer and ÄKTApilot

The Use default Packing Factor box is checked automatically, which means that
the medium will be packed using a predetermined packing factor. Unless specifically
stated in the instructions for a particular BioProcess medium, it is recommended to
use the default Packing Factor. Unchecking this option, for example for custom media
(see Creating an Intelligent Packing method based on custom media, on page 71),
allows the user to enter a Packing Factor in the range of 1.00-1.30.
NOTICE
Over-compression during packing can damage the medium.
In the Intelligent Packing tests performed by GE Healthcare on
its base media selection, the default Packing Factor for each
medium has been used and verified.
