SYMPTOM
Low pedal – Pedal may go to the floor,

Springy or spongy brake pedal – Brake
pedal has soft, springy or spongy feel

POSSIBLE CAUSES
Weak (bulging) brake hose
Improperly adjusted master cylinder push
rod
Bent or distorted brake shoes
Cracked or thin drums
Poor quality brake fluid (low boiling point)
Weak (bulging) brake hoses that expand
under pressure
Air in the hydraulic system
Brake fade
Grease or brake fluid on the brake shoe
linings
Glazed brake shoe linings
Damaged or distorted brake shoes
Scored or barrel-shaped brake shoe
drums
Clogged master cylinder lines or hoses
Frozen master cylinder piston
Incorrect or distorted brake shoes
Grease or brake fluid on the brake shoe
linings
Loose or distorted brake backing plate
Scored or warped brake drums
Corroded master cylinder bore
Binding brake pedal linkage
Incorrect or distorted brake shoes
