INTRODUCTION
This appendix contains additional information for programming the Laser Transducer System
using either an HP 9820A or 9830A Calculator.
A.2
Programming with the HP 9820A
Programming the Laser Transducer System using an HP 9820A is very similar to programming
with the HP 9825A. The two primary differences are:
1.
The 9820A uses negative-true instructions for the Coupler cards and the 9825A uses
positive-true instructions (refer to Table 4-77).
2.
The 9820A transfers 8-bit bytes to and from the calculator and the 9825A transfers
16-
bit words.
There are some minor differences between the two calculators (capital letters vs. lower-case
letters) that are explained in the calculator documentation. Data flow within the system is
illustrated in Section IV.
A.3
Programming with the HP 9830A
Programming the Laser Transducer System using an HP 9830A i s similar to programming with
the HP 9825A in the sense that the instructions for the coupler cards are the same. However,
since a different level language is used it is first necessary to understand the calculator require-
ments and then apply them to the Laser Transducer System. Two typical programs are illus-
trated in Tables A-7 and A-2. Table A-7, Counter-Based System Using HP 9830A, is similar to
Table 4-72 in Section I. Table A-2 is similar to Table 4-73. Comparing the tables and data flow
illustrations in Section IV to these two examples will help to clarify the techniques of program-
ming with the 9830A.
