The thickness of the 10711A mount is such that the beam centerline corresponds to the lower
part of the 10701A or 10706A interferometers. To be i n line with the center of the interfero-
meter a spacer 6.4 m m

inch) thick has t o be added t o the laser head, or to be i n line with
the upper part, a 12.7 m m (I/' inch) spacer is needed. Also remember as the beam goes
through a beam splitter, the exit beam is slightly offset downward (or t o the side if the beam
is bent i n the horizontal axis) by 0.8 m m (.03 inch). See Figure 2-78.
Both mounts are made of stainless steel 416. Its magnetic properties can be helpful at the
design stage if magnetic clamps are used. However, i n final installation, secure the mount
with the provided screws.
