6.5 Failure scenarios

Sequence
1. The CP 1543-1 at the primary CPU fails.
2. The connection to Industrial Ethernet is maintained via the IP address assigned to the CP
1543-1 (device IP address) at the backup CPU.
3. The redundancy of the system is restricted. The connection to the device IP address of the
left CPU and the connection to the assigned system IP address of the CPs remain
permanently interrupted. This restriction has no effect on the process.
Diagnostics
System state, operating states, and error displays after the failure of the communications
processor CP at the primary CPU:
• Redundant system → RUN-Redundant system state
• Primary CPU/backup CPU → RUN-Redundant operating state
– MAINT LED → lights up yellow: Module failed
Solution
Replace the defective CP 1543-1. You can find more information on the procedure in the
Replacing a defective communications processor (Page 454) section.

Failure scenarios
Introduction
This section describes possible failure scenarios with the various configuration variants. The
failure scenarios lead to process restrictions. In the examples shown, the redundant system
cannot tolerate the failures any longer.
