Line topology configuration with R1 devices and Y-switch with S2 devices

Introduction
The section below shows you the configuration of the S7-1500H redundant system with R1
devices and Y-switch in a line topology.
Advantages/benefits
• If you want to use both R1 devices and S2/S1 devices in your configuration, you need a Y-
switch (SCALANCE XF204-2BA DNA) for the S2/S1 device connection. Connect the S2/S1
devices to the PROFINET ring ports of the Y-switch.
• For increased availability of the PROFINET network you need two Y-switches with DNA
redundancy (SCALANCE XF204-2BA DNA), a DNA manager and a DNA client. DNA
redundancy is only possible with a connected PROFINET ring. A Y-switch takes on the roles
of MRP manager and DNA manager, and a second Y-switch takes on the roles of MRP
client and DNA client.
By means of Y-switches with DNA redundancy, you connect a PROFINET ring consisting of
S2/S1 devices redundantly to the line topology of S7-1500H. This reduces the probability
of failure of the S2/S1 devices at the Y-switches and increases the availability of the
network. For more information on DNA redundancy, refer to the SCALANCE XB-200/XC-
200/XF-200BA/XP-200/XR-300WG Web Based Management
(https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/ww/en/view/109780061) configuration manual.
