Structure of the Syslog messages

A CPU collects syslog messages in a local cache. These syslog messages are structured
according to the syslog protocol (RFC 5424) and consist of the following elements:
• HEADER
• STRUCTURED-DATA
• MSG (Message)
The following sections describe the structure and parameters of the individual elements.
Structure of the HEADER element
The header contains all the data required for further processing of the syslog message. A
space separates the individual parts of the header (exception: No space between PRI and
VERSION). A CPU transmits the following header in syslog messages, for example:
