Protecting access

You can protect the configuration area of your base station and talk&surf against unau-
thorised access by assigning a system PIN. When supplied, the system PIN is preconfig-
ured to 0000. PIN protection will be effective once you set a system PIN that is not 0000.

Changing the system PIN

ì
In talk&surf select Configuration > Base settings.
ì
Open the Security tab.
ì
Click Change PIN.
ì
Enter the old PIN (factory setting: 0000).
ì
Enter a new PIN. The PIN can be from 1 to 8 digits long.
ì
Confirm the new PIN by entering it again.
ì
Apply the change by clicking OK.
This transfers the system PIN to the base station. From now on, the configuration area
can only be opened with the correct PIN.
Resetting the system PIN
To permanently deactivate PIN protection, reset the system PIN to the fac-
i
tory setting 0000.
ì
To do this, enter 0000 in the Change PIN dialogue as New PIN and
confirm it by entering it again.

Saving the system PIN

You can save the system PIN for the duration of a configuration session so that you do
not have to repeatedly enter it in talk&surf.
Precondition: The factory set system PIN 0000 has been changed to a different value.
ì
Open any folder in Configuration.
ì
Enter your system PIN.
ì
Activate the Save base PIN? option
ì
Confirm your entry with OK.
You will no longer be asked for your system PIN during this session. The next time you
start talk&surf, you will have to enter your PIN again, but then you can save it for the
duration of the new configuration session.
You will find a more detailed description of PIN protection in Chapter "Security" on
page 154.
