10.6.8 Error Messages

The following table shows the error messages displayed by the software RAID utility and the
countermeasures for those errors.

Meaning
A sector that cannot be
read by Master (or
Mirrored) was detected. A
media error occurred.
A sector that cannot be
read by both the drives was
detected during a
consistency check. A
media error occurred.
A sector that cannot be
written by Master (or
Mirrored) was detected.
The operation was
canceled.
The capacity is different
between the installed
drives.
An internal error occurred.
XXXX indicates the module
where the error occurred.
YYYY indicates the process
where the error occurred.
ZZZZZZZZ indicates the
detailed error code.

Action
The information in the sector where the
read error was detected is not rebuilt.
Therefore, the system might not operate
properly when the corresponding sector is
read.
Back up the data, replace the drive in
which the error occurred, and then rebuild
the RAID.
After the rebuild is completed, restore the
backup data.
Back up the data, replace one drive, and
then rebuild the RAID. After that, replace
the other drive, rebuild the RAID again,
and restore the backup data.
Replace the drive in which the error
occurred and rebuild the RAID.
Drives with the same capacity must be
installed.
