Connecting the CMU to the network

This section describes typical configuration tasks that must be completed in order
to connect a newly-installed PTP 800 link to management and customer data
networks.
For a discussion of networking planning considerations, see
on page 2-16.

Update security and capacity capabilities

If required, enter a new license key in each of the CMUs to activate optional AES
encryption and optional increased capacity limits as described in
PTP 800

Configure security

Configure the administrator password at each CMU.
If AES encryption is required, proceed as follows:

Enable AES encryption at each of the CMUs as described in
encryption

Configure the same AES key in each of the CMUs as described in
AES encryption keys
x
Check the PTP link status as described in
that the link is up and that encryption configuration is consistent between
ends of the link.

Configure remote management using SNMP or SMTP

If management by SNMP is required, proceed as follows:
