4. Lift the starting circuit cutoff relay (Figure 47)
from its tang and disconnect the 12-pin connector
from the relay.
5. Installation is the reverse of removal. Make sure
the electrical terminals are clean and pack the con-
nector with dielectric grease.

SCCR Continuity Test

1. Remove the starting circuit cutoff relay as de-
scribed in this section.
2. Disconnect the harness connector from the relay.
3. Check the continuity of the starting circuit cutoff
relay as follows:
a. Use jumpers to connect the positive battery
terminal to the red/black terminal in the relay
(A, Figure 48); connect the negative battery
terminal to the black/yellow terminal (B).
b. Connect the ohmmeter positive test lead to
the sky blue terminal (C, Figure 48) in the re-
lay and connect the negative test lead to the
blue/white terminal (D, Figure 48).
c. The unit should have continuity during this
test.
4. Replace the starting circuit cutoff relay if it has
no continuity.

SCCR Diode Test (Starting Circuit)

1. Remove the starting circuit cutoff relay as de-
scribed in this chapter.
2. Disconnect the harness connector from the relay.
3. Check the continuity of the starting system diode
as follows:
a. Connect the ohmmeter positive test lead to
the sky blue terminal (A, Figure 49) in the re-
lay; connect the negative test lead to the re-
lay's black/yellow terminal (B). The diode
should have continuity.
b. Reverse the connectors and check the conti-
nuity. The diode should have no continuity
when the positive test lead is connected to the
black/yellow terminal (B, Figure 49) and the
negative test lead is connected to the sky blue
terminal (A).
5. Replace the starting circuit cutoff relay if the
starting system diode fails either portion of the test.

1. Remove the starting circuit cutoff relay as de-
scribed in this chapter.
2. Disconnect the harness connector from the relay.
3. Check the continuity of the ignition system di-
ode as follows:
a. Connect the ohmmeter positive test lead to
the sky blue terminal (A, Figure 50) in the re-
