User Guide
The MCU supports multi-channel cascading. By using several channels for cascaded
conferences, the MCU can send multiple channels of data streams to other cascaded MCUs,
removing the preceding restrictions on single-channel conferences. For example, in the
multi-channel conference as shown in
MCU4 can be displayed in continuous presence on MCU1.
During a multi-channel-cascaded conference, the following aspects are restricted:
Automatically Scheduling a Cascaded Conference
You can manually add sites on different MCUs to create a multi-channel-cascaded conference.
Such conference can also be scheduled by the RM automatically in one of the following
situations:
1.4.4 Static NAT Networking
With static network address translation (NAT), the IP address of the GE0 network interface on
an MCU can be mapped to a public IP address. This approach enables terminals on different
private networks to access the same MCU, regardless of whether the terminals and the MCU
are located on the same private network. This approach is applicable to the situation where the
following conditions are all met: Many of the sites participating in a conference are not in the
city where the MCU is located; the sites in other cities are on private networks that can
Issue 10 (2013-07-20)
Only the chair site can view the sites on the remote MCU. Ordinary sites can view only
the sites on the local MCU.
MCU1 cannot be an 8650C.
Multi-channel cascading is used for a and functions of continuous presence and site
selection.
A maximum of 32 channels can exist between master and slave MCUs in one
conference.
A maximum of three levels of multi-channel-cascaded MCUs is supported in
networking.
Sites located in different provinces cannot join a multi-channel-cascaded conference
simultaneously.
Line backup is not supported, that is, the mode in which active and backup sites exist is
not supported.
During a scheduled conference that contains cascaded sites, a slave MCU can be
cascaded to only one master MCU, but can be cascaded to by multiple slave MCUs.
The function of automatic rate reduction is not supported.
During the defining of an ordinary conference, sites are assigned to difference MCUs, or
a site is not assigned to any MCUs and cannot be assigned to the same MCU as other
sites (the second situation occurs if, for example, sites using IP and E1 lines exist in a
conference, and the master MCU does not support the simultaneous access by sites using
different types of lines).
During a multi-level conference, sites in the upper-level or lower-level conferenence are
from different MCUs (see the conditions of automatic cascading for ordinary
conferences).
During an active conference, a site that is not from the master MCU is added (see the
conditions of automatic cascading for ordinary conferences).
During the SiteCall, sites using various types of lines exist and the master MCU does not
support the simultaneous access by sites using different types of lines.
