About This Chapter
The RM, SwitchCentre, and SwitchManager described in this chapter are the components of
the Service Management Center (SMC).
On the SMC toolbar, Conference Management corresponds to the RM page and Node
Management corresponds to the SwitchManager page.
A simple conference is a conference wherein:
After reading this chapter, you will be familiar with how to hold a simple conference by using
the 8650C MCU, the RM, and the SC together with the terminal.
5.1 Preparations
5.1.1 Planning the Conference Parameters
To hold a simple conference on the RM,The additional components required include the SC,
the MCU, and the terminals.
n this example, you will add a GK prefix, an MCU, and three participants.

Holding a Simple Conference
The description in this chapter is not applicable if the MCU accesses to an IMS network and
manages conferences through the Portal provided by the IMS network.
Unless otherwise specified, the SwitchCentre (the SC for short) refers to the network control system,
including the SwitchManager (the SM for short) and the SC. The SM is the management console of
the SC.
The SC and the GK described in this chapter refer to the same software SC.
All the participants access the same MCU in the same mode.
All the participants are in the same service area so that their service codes are consistent.
Third-party authentication, billing, and number distribution systems are not required.
The conference should not connect to the TopResourceManager.
