You can perform background processing to eliminate
unnecessary noise. If it is not possible to segment a
character due to the presence of background noise (such as
a base pattern), select Background Process, and set the
level for background processing (Low, Middle or High).
Refer to Background Processing and Noise Reduction
(p. 8 − 11) for details.

You can set the Noise Reduction level (in the range 1 to 10)
to fine−tune the background processing.

It is possible to exempt the contour part of the segmented
character from differential inspection (attach a mask). If
variations in the thickness of lines in a character are affecting
the checking results, adjust the level of Smart Setting (No,
Low, Middle or High).
As the setting is changed from Low to Middle to High, the
mask region increases.
Note
If you will execute Smart Setting, set Smart Setting before you
register the character image (if you do this after, the setting will
have no effect unless you perform the registration again).
