Centrifuge Module Interface Operating Instructions

Routine Cleaning of the Hettich Unit

Clean the Hettich unit weekly or after 200 spins, whichever occurs first.
Routine cleaning procedures include the Hettich Centrifuge outer
enclosure, rotor, buckets, chamber, and seals.
CAUTION
Do not leave broken tubes in the centrifuge. If a sample tube breaks
during centrifugation, sample tubes, cassettes, and the robot may remain
inside the Hettich centrifuge unit. If this occurs, see Managing Sample
Tube Breakage , page 80.
Cleaning the Hettich Unit Outer Enclosure
Cleaning Cycle
Materials Needed
Perform the following steps to clean the Hettich unit outer enclosure:
1. Bring the Centrifuge module to the Shutdown state.
2. At the top right of the control panel, turn the lid knob to the Unlock
position and open the lid.
If the hatch is open, you cannot unlock and open the lid.
3. If the hatch is open, perform these steps:
a. Turn the key to fully counter-clockwise position.
b. On the control panel, press and hold the STO button until the hatch
c. Turn the key clockwise to the starting position.
WARNING
Do not clean the Hettich centrifuge unit while power is on. Cleaning the
unit while power is on can cause injury. To prevent robot motion, ensure
that you press the E-stop before you clean the Hettich centrifuge unit.
4. Use the power swich on the Hettich unit to turn the unit off.
5. Using a cloth moistened with a 10% bleach solution, clean the outer
enclosure of the Hettich unit.
