Digital Extensions
The following instructions explain how to connect digital extensions.
These
instructions apply for key phones and Digital Single-Line Telephones
(DSLTs).
Separate insnuctions
are provided for installing the D&S/72 and EM24
terminals, which connect to digital phones.
1. Use a standard 50-pin cable to connect the extensions from the MDF to
the CN6 connector on the DBS 824 KSU backplane, as shown in Figure
4-3 on page 4-6. (Refer to Table 4-2 for extension pinouts.)
DSS/72
Guidelines
l
The DS972
(VB-43320) is a 72-key console that can be attached to the
attendant phone.
It provides direct station selection and busy lamp fields
for internal lines. The DSS/72 can also be used for text assignment.

Up to two DSS/72s can be assigned to attendant phones 1 and 2.
l
If more than one DSS/72 is assigned to an attendant phone, only one of the
DSS/72s can be wired from the same wall jack as the attendant phone as
shown in Figure 4-4. Additional DW72s
must be wired from a separate
wall jack.

The DSSfl2 includes a mounting bracket, screws, and a two-conductor
cable for attaching the DSS to the key phone.
Installation
1. Attach the DSS/72 to the key phone using the mounting plate and the four
screws.
2.
Connect the DSS to the key phone using the two-conductor
cable.
3.
Connect the DSS to the wall jack using a four-conductor
cable.
4.
Connect the four wires from the key phone and DSS to the MDF.
