6.4.3 Replacing a Compressor

Prerequisites
Required tools: two adjustable wrenches, a torque wrench, a welding torque, a nitrogen
cylinder (to be prepared onsite), LOCTITE 554 glue (optional), a new compressor, and a new
dryer filter.
Context
When replacing a compressor, avoid skin contact with the refrigerant or lubricant to prevent
frostbite or burns.
Procedure
Step 1 Disconnect the power supply.
Step 2 Reclaim the refrigerant.
Step 3 Disconnect the cables from the compressor.
Step 4 Fix the angle valve nuts shown by 1 and 3 in
turn the angle valve nut shown by 2 in
Remove the suction and discharge angle valves. Seal the air intake and exhaust vents to
ensure that the system is clean and moisture does not enter the pipes.
Issue 10 (2019-01-15)
Do not tilt the compressor during replacement to prevent lubricant leakage.
Reclaim or dispose of the refrigerant in accordance with local laws and regulations. Do not
discharge the refrigerant to the atmosphere.
Install a new compressor immediately after you remove the rubber plugs of suction inlet
and exhaust outlet to prevent the moisture.
