AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION BASIC CHECK
This check very important for troubleshooting when TCM and ECM has detected no malfunction DTC and no ab-
normality has been found in visual inspection. Follow the flow table carefully.
STEP
1 Was "A/T DIAGNOSTIC FLOW TABLE" performed?
2 Check A/T Fluid.
Warm transmission to normal operating temperature
and check fluid level and contamination referring to
"Fluid Level Check" in this section.
Is it in good condition?
3 Check Select Cable for Adjustment referring to
"SELECT CABLE ADJUSTMENT" in this section.
Is it adjusted correctly?
4 Check Transmission Range Sensor Circuit for Opera-
tion referring to "TRANSMISSION RANGE SENSOR
CIRCUIT CHECK" in this section.
Is check result satisfactory?
5 Check Engine Idle Speed referring to "IDLE
SPEED/ IAC DUTY INSPECTION" in Section 6E1, 6E2,
6E3 or 6E4.
Is it specified speed?
6 Perform Manual Road Test referring to "MANUAL
ROAD TEST" in this section.
Is check result satisfactory?
7 Perform Engine Brake Test referring to "ENGINE
BRAKE TEST" in this section.
Is check result satisfactory?
8 Perform "P" Range Test referring to ""P" RANGE TEST"
in this section.
Is check result satisfactory?
9 Perform "TIME LAG TEST", "STALL TEST" and "LINE
PRESSURE TEST" referring to each applicable item in
this section.
Are all check results satisfactory?
