4B-2 PROPELLER SHAFTS
RBC (ROTARY BLADE COUPLING)
The main components of the rotary blade coupling are: pressure generation section (silicon chamber) and torque
transmission section (multi-plate clutch). The pressure generation section consists of a blade which is in mesh
with the coupling shaft at the output side through spline and silicon oil filling the section with a small amount of
air.
The torque transmission section consists of a piston, a multi-plate clutch (separate plate, friction plate), A/T fluid
and a coupling No.1 housing.

8. Silicon oil
OPERATION
1) When difference occurs in revolution between front and rear
wheels, the blade turns relatively to the housing.
2) As the blade turns, silicon flows, causing pressure to occur at
the front face of the blade.
3) The piston operates and pushes the multi-plate clutch.
4) The torque is transmitted in the lower revolution direction.
