If LEDs is chosen, both the STATUS and TRIP LEDs will be tested. The STATUS LED is tested first followed by
the TRIP LED. The display will indicate the correct state of the LEDs. After each LED state the user will be
prompted to press the [ENT] key and move to the next test. When the [ENT] key is pressed after the last test,
the LEDs return to their pre-test state and the LUI TEST item menu is displayed.
If Keypad is chosen, the following screen appears:
When any key is pressed, the key label will blink on the display. If another key is pressed, the new key label will
blink. Pressing the [CLR] key will terminate the keypad test and the test item menu is displayed.
This command tests the digital outputs of the relay. If the digital outputs are not enabled, the user is prompted
to enable them. If the user enters [1/Y] (YES) and presses [ENT], the outputs are enabled. If the user presses
[3/N] (NO), CANCELED is displayed and the test is terminated.
When the outputs are enabled, protection must be disabled (if it is currently enabled). If the user responds NO,
CANCELED is displayed and the test is canceled. If user responds YES, protection is turned OFF, the status
LED turns RED and the list of available tests is displayed.
To select a test item, scroll through the list using arrow keys or enter the test number. If the test pre-requisites
are satisfied, the word ON will display to the right of test item. If the password privilege level is not MASTER or
communications is performing an action, an error message is displayed and the test is not performed.
The contact being tested will close if it is normally open and it will open if it is normally closed. Only one output
can be monitored at a time. When a new output is tested, the old output will be reset and the new output will
either open or close.
Other activities using the [SET], [ACT] or [INF] keys may be performed at any time. When the user returns to
the Digital Output tests, they are asked questions about Protection enable and then the selected test and its
following tests are displayed, starting from the second line.
Press the arrow keys until End Test Mode is displayed or press the [1], [ENT] keys to stop the digital output
test. Press [ENT] again. The digital output test is terminated and the following message will be displayed:
The cursor will be stationed on the third line. If [1/Y] (YES), [ENT] is entered, protection is turned ON. The LED
indicating LPS-D status turns green (if performing digital output test was the only cause for it being red) and the
ACT command menu is displayed with the cursor positioned on Dig output test. The above prompt will be also
displayed when the user tries to exit the digital output test category without ending the test.
If [3/N] (NO) is entered followed by [ENT] key, protection is not enabled and the status LED remains RED. The
ACT command menu is displayed with the cursor positioned on the item Dig output test.
The test may be stopped by pressing the [END] [ENT] key sequence, ending the relay session with protection
turned ON.
