Configuring a Management IP Interface
© Copyright Lenovo 2016
For remote management, each switch in a stack can be configured with a
management IP interface. To configure the interface, associate the desired IP
address with the switch's MAC address as follows:
RS G8264(config)# interface ip 128
RS G8264(configipif)# mac <switch MAC address> ip address <IPv4 address> <subnet
mask>
RS G8264(configipif)# mac <switch MAC address> enable
To provide continuous Management IP reachability in the event of Master node
failover, an additional floating Management IP address can be set up on the
management interfaces. The floating Management IP address will be used by the
backup switch when taking over management from the failed master node. To
configure the floating Management IP address, use the following command:
RS G8264(config)# interface ip 128
RS G8264(configipif)# floating ip address <IPv4 address> <subnet mask>
The Management IP and floating Management IP addresses on the master switch,
as well as the Management IP address on the backup switch, must be in the same
subnet. The gateway configuration for the management interface also works for the
floating IP address. No additional gateway is required for the floating IP address.
When a floating IP is defined, both the master and backup management interfaces
must be defined.
