4.3 Color Pattern Matching

4.3.1 Overview of Color Pattern Matching

In the image from which a registed color was extracted, the LightPixAE20 detects the registered base
image (template) in the inspection area (, which is called "Searching"). The unit judges whether the detected
image is positioned within the allowable range (the base position +/- set range). Within the template area, all
the extracted and not extracted parts are saved as features of the template. The LightPixAE20 finds out an
image having the (almost) same color as the template based on the information. The degree that the image
matches the template is called a "degree of similarity", which is indicated in figures (0 to 100). The
procedures for searching an image similar to a template are called the "steps" (of the first to third). You can
alter the inspection conditions for each step.
You can save one color and template for each product type and seven colors and templates for seven
product types in total. If you want to detect the different object, switch the product types at the LightPix side
to continue to execute inspection.
Showing the template position
A template is positioned within the inspection area, and its X-and Y-directional distance from the left upper
position to the center value of the template is indicated in mm.
Outputting the template to the ports of OUT1 to 3
The way of outputting template to the ports of OUT1 to 3 varies depending on the following inspection item:
Was the template detected?
Is the X-directional position of the detected template within the allowable range?
Is the Y-directional position of the detected template within the allowable range?
Signals output to the ports of OUT1 to 3 differ depending on the result of the inspection item above (see the
table shown below).
