2) Fusing
• The fuser unit makes the image permanent by fusing the toner to the paper
with heat and pressure.
• The surface of the heat roller has excellent toner release characteristics and
has been treated to enhance its durability and anti-static characteristics.
• Heat is provided to the heat roller intemally by a halogen lamp.
(The heat roller contains two halogen lamps. Two halogen lamps (main heater
lamp and sub heater lamp) are used to reduce the time for warming up after
turning ON.) (FP-D450/D600)
• The thermistor, touches the surface of the heat roller and maintains temperature
at the specified value.
• The fuser thermostat, which is installed on top of the heat roller, protects the
fuser unit from overheating.
• The pressure roller is composed of silicone rubber which is covered with a
fluorine plastic tube to enhance the durability of the roller.
• The pressure roller applies pressure, provided by the fuser pressure springs,
to the heat roller to from a nip width (contact area) which provides the necessary
time for fusing.
• The drive for the fuser unit is provided by the main motor via the respective
gears.
• Fuser separation finger
To prevent paper from adhering to the heat and pressure rollers during fusing,
the upper and lower separation fingers contact their respective rollers to sepatate
the paper from the rollers mechanically if normal separation does not occur.
