To Suppress Smudges on Text and Lines

Before adjustment
Black text looks smudged due to toner
scattering around the text.
 Explanation
You can suppress smudges on text and lines printed by the 4 color toners.
If a barcode is outputted as image data and is smudged as a result of printing with 4 color toners, this
adjustment will be effective.
 Procedures
You can start from any of the procedures. Adjustment results of procedures (3) and (4) also affect other
unintended things.
(1) Change the image type.
Select "Line Art" which is suitable for printing images containing lots of lines.
For details on how to make the change, refer to "3.2 To Make Print Suitable for the Original".
(2) Perform sharpness adjustment.
By deselecting the "Use Sharpness Filter" checkbox, the enhancement of the outline form of text
and lines can be suppressed and thus smudges are able to be reduced.
For details of the adjustment procedure, refer to "3.1.4 Sharpness Adjustment".
• This adjustment will be reflected only when printing is performed by selecting "600 dpi".
(3) Perform PureBlack/Gray threshold value adjustment.
This symptom will be suppressed by carrying out black printing using only the K toner.
For details of the adjustment procedure, refer to "3.1.2 PureBlack/Gray Threshold Value
Adjustment".
(4) Reduce the toner used amount.
By reducing the toner amount used for printing, this symptom will be suppressed.
For details of the adjustment procedure, refer to "3.1.9 Toner Used Amount Adjustment".
