4.1.3 Motion Detection

Motion Detection Settings
Motion detection can only be set on cameras connected to the network camera recorder software on the same
network (LAN).
Motion detection can also be set for cameras set to [MPEG-4] or [H.264] data formats in the Image Settings.
Cameras connected over the Internet cannot perform motion detection.

Motion detection can be selected to either [Perform motion detection with this software] or [Perform motion
detection with the camera].

When [Perform motion detection with the camera] is selected, motion detection can also be set for cameras
set to [MPEG-4] or [H.264] data formats.
Motion detection will not function until the motion detection area is configured.
When the [Auto settings of the camera] (Basic Settings in the Preferences) of this program is enabled and
only when motion detection is not configured on the camera, the camera will automatically be set to detect
all areas of motion detection area 1. These settings will not be enabled when motion detection is already
configured.
The camera will be set to [Non-preset positions] in case the preset position is not configured.
If the preset position has already been configured, [Non preset positions] will be set to the 10 most recent
position numbers.
Please configure the motion detection settings directly on the camera, when [Auto settings of the camera]
is disabled.

When [Perform motion detection with the camera] is selected, the motion detection status bar is not
displayed.
•
When [Perform motion detection with the camera] is selected, 10 seconds or more are needed before
recording can start after detection.

When [Perform motion detection with the camera] is selected, the motion detection monitoring screen
is not displayed.

When [Perform motion detection with the camera] is selected, the camera's Panasonic alarm protocol
notification will be used. For more information about the Panasonic alarm protocol notification function,
see your network camera user manual.
