4.2.3 Scheduled functions by default

In Windows®, various functions are scheduled by default and executed periodically in the
background. Among those functions, the disk defragmenter (or optimize drives) may increase
the system load significantly when they run and may affect the operation of the applications
for business use.
(1) Disk Defragmenter (For Windows® Embedded Standard 7)
On this equipment, scheduled defragmentation by Disk Defragmenter is turned off. If you
want to defragment disks using Disk Defragmenter, you can do that by using either one of the
methods below.
(a) Turn on scheduled defragmentation by Disk Defragmenter.
(b) Run Disk Defragmenter manually.
The procedure of each method is described below.
(a) Turn on scheduled defragmentation by Disk Defragmenter.
1. If you are not logged on to the computer as an administrator, log on to the computer as
an administrator.
2. Click Start > Control Panel.
3. The Control Panel window appears. Click System and Security
4. Click Defragment your hard drive under Administrative Tools.
