2. OPERATION

2.6.2 Turning on the power using the LAN

1. Turn on this equipment and start up. After the equipment started up, make sure to turn
off the equipment by shutting down the OS. After turning off the power, Do not
disconnect the power cable from the DC power connector of the equipment.
2. Send a Magic Packet™ frame to the built-in LAN adapter in the equipment. When the
built-in LAN adapter receives a Magic Packet™ frame, the power turns on and the

through the shutdown process when you turn off the power.
The built-in LAN adapter in the equipment is compliant with WfM 2.0 (*1) to support
the Magic Packet™ technology. Because of this, the power for the equipment can be turned
on when a special data packet called a "Magic Packet™ frame" (*2) is received at the built-
in LAN adapter.
A program for transmitting a Magic Packet™ frame does not come with the equipment.
Use a commercially available program for to transmit the Magic Packet™ frame.
(*1) Wired for Management (WfM) is a guideline regarding the hardware specifications
proposed by Intel Corporation for managing PCs on a network.
(*2) The Magic Packet™ technology has been proposed by AMD Japan, Ltd. and can be
starting a PC on a network from a remote device.
< NOTE >
・ When you send a Magic Packet™ frame to the equipment, make sure you
send it to the built-in LAN adapter in the equipment. (For information about the
location of the connector, see "1.4 Name and Function of Each Part".) You
cannot use WOL if you send a Magic Packet™ frame to an optional LAN
adapter.
・ If you turn off the power by pressing the power button for at least four seconds,
you cannot use WOL the next time. When you turn off the power by pressing
the power button for at least four seconds, turn on the equipment by pressing
the power button and go through the shutdown process to turn off the power.
