2. If you are removing the card permanently, install a metal filler bracket over the empty expansion slot opening and lower the
PCIe card latch to lock the bracket in place.
NOTE:
You must install a filler bracket over an empty expansion card slot to maintain Federal Communications
Commission (FCC) certification of the system. The brackets also keep dust and dirt out of the system and aid in
proper cooling and airflow inside the system.

Installing expansion card into expansion card riser

Prerequisites

3. If installing a new expansion card, unpack it and prepare the card for installation.
NOTE:

Steps
1. If installed, remove the filler bracket.
NOTE:
Store the filler bracket for future use. Filler brackets must be installed in empty expansion card slots to maintain
Federal Communications Commission (FCC) certification of the system. The brackets also keep dust and dirt out of the
system and aid in proper cooling and airflow inside the system.
2. Holding the expansion card by its edges, position the card so that the connector on the card aligns with the connector on
the riser.
3. Insert the connector on the card into the connector on the riser until the card is fully seated.
4. Slide the PCIe retention bracket down to hold the card in place.
