This offset should be entered in the adapter dimension (basis dimension) of the tool data of
the workpiece probe. As a component of the tool geometry, the adapter dimension is already
contained in the CNC.
The explained adaptation of the tool geometry results in the programmed axis position
corresponding to the probe ball (tool tip). You must observe whether the probe length refers
to the probe ball center or the probe ball circumference.
The behavior of the measuring cycles is set with the following general machine data:
MD 51740 $MNS_MEA_FUNCTION_MASK, bit 4
Value bit 4
=0
=1
Note
Calibration
If a probe is not SPOS-capable, or is permanently mounted on the machine, this results in
special requirements for the calibration.
The permissible calibration variants are:
● Calibrating in the ring, with "start point in the center of the ring"
– AUTO mode: SD54760 Bit22 = 1
– JOG mode: SD55740 bit 15 = 1
● Calibration at an edge/between two edges

3.3 Measure workpiece (milling)
Meaning
Workpiece probe is located in a spindle (default)
Probe is permanently affixed on the machine. The
programming of the measurement cycles is done
exactly as it is done with a positionable probe. All
of the functions that require a positionable spindle
cannot be selected in the measurement cycle input
screens. In the measuring cycle, no SPOS com‐
mands are called or non-executable measuring
functions are rejected by means of an alarm mes‐
sage during the cycle runtime.
