It is possible to use Navigator to quickly activate a variable list. Navigate to a
file with the extension "*.var" and press F-key "Variable functions". The required
function can be called in the subsequent level.
Differentiation is made among:

Activate variable list
The selected list is activated; if you switch to the "Machine" mode, this list
is displayed by pressing F-key "Active variables".

Variable list with loading
By pressing the F-key "Variables list with loading" the selected list is ac‐
tivated. When switching to the operating mode "Machine" this list is shown
by pressing the F-key "Active variables". First, a query appears asking
whether the values of the variables that are entered in the activated list
are to be written to the NC. In this way, a defined status of certain variables
can be generated. If the variable values of this list are saved beforehand,
this status is reestablished.

Activate entire list
The list of all variables is activated by pressing F-key "Activate Entire
List".
Saving ("General Lists") Variables Values and Letters in the NC
It is possible to save the current values of variables. For this, in case of an
"activated list" ("General lists"), using the F-key "File"/"save respectively save
as", the current values of all variables in the list are saved. This list can be
activated later using function "Variable Functions"/"Variables list with Load‐
ing"; at the same time, the values are written to the control system after the
write query has been acknowledged. Alternatively, you can edit values in a list
yourself and then transfer them to the control.
If the list contains variables that no longer exist or if the values of the variables
are incorrect, an error window appears with this information.
Projecting Functions to Quickly Activate Variable Lists
The projecting of fast functions to quickly activate variable lists occurs in Engi‐
neering Desktop (startup). The functions can be applied to both F-keys and M-
keys. To do this, function "Variables" is assigned to a key. Either a path or a
specific list can be entered in text field "Path or list name". If only one list is
entered, it is displayed as soon as the key is pressed. If a path is entered, a list
of all the variables lists existing in this path is shown after the key is pressed.
When a list is selected, it is immediately displayed.
Interruption of the Connection
If the connection to the control is interrupted, all variables editors are closed. If
edited data have not been saved at this point in time, the files are saved on the
hard disk under the same name in directory "c:\SaveXXXXXXXX".
"XXXXXXXX" stands for the abbreviation of the current date (year/month/day).
Example:
20050614 corresponds to June 14, 2005.
After the connection has been restored, the saved files can be copied to a mount
directory of the control using Windows Explorer.
