Step 11
Determine if the system comes up in sleep mode.
If the system comes up in sleep mode, perform Step 13. If the system does not
come up in sleep mode, perform Step 14.
Step 12
Attempt to duplicate the reported problem, as described by the customer.
If the problem can be duplicated, perform Step 15. If the problem cannot be
duplicated, perform the No Trouble Found Process.
Step 13
Turn the computer on using the computer's Power button (see Figure 2-2 for the
location of this button).
If the system loads DOS without error, perform Step 16. If the system does not
load DOS without error, perform the Boot Failure Troubleshooting Process.
Step 14
Press the Reset button on the front of the computer (see Figure 2-2 for the location
of this button).
If the system loads DOS without error, perform Step 16. If the system does not
load DOS without error, perform the Boot Failure Troubleshooting Process.
Step 15
(A) Examine the system setup parameters. (B) Select the default setting. (C) Save
and exit. (D) Test to determine if the original problem still exists.
If the original problem still exists, perform Step 17. If the original problem no
longer exists, perform the Repair Completion Process.
Step 16
Determine if the original problem still exists.
If the original problem still exists, perform Step 12. If the original problem no
longer exists, perform Step 15.
Step 17
(A) Remove all expansion cards and devices (refer to Chapter 4). (B) Reboot the
system.
If the problem still exists, perform Step 18. If the problem no longer exists,
perform Step 19.
Step 18
Determine if the computer boots up correctly.
If the computer boots up correctly, perform Step 22. If the computer does not
boot up correctly, perform the Boot Failure Troubleshooting Process.
Step 19
Reinstall expansion cards and devices one at a time (refer to Chapter 4) and test
after each installation.
If the problem still exists, perform Step 20. If the problem no longer exists,
perform Step 21.
Step 20
(A) Replace the expansion card or device suspected of causing the problem (refer
to Chapter 4). (B) Test to determine if the original problem still exists.
If the original problem still exists, perform Step 22. If the original problem no
longer exists, perform the Repair Completion Process.
