Procedure 3
The purpose of this procedure is to determine if BIOS testing has identified a problem with
the system board. The Initial Reliability Test (IRT) within the BIOS checks the system board
for possible problems or errors. When the IRT detects an error, the system halts and a
corresponding error message is displayed on the screen.
Check
If the system halts and an error message displays on the screen, refer to Table 2-4
for PCI configuration error messages and the corresponding explanation. If no
error messages display, perform Procedure 4.

These errors occur (A) when the system
configuration preserved in the RTC memory
does not match the actual configuration or
(B) when data is lost.
Press the [F1] key to access setup and set
the system configuration to default, then
test. If error message (10) is displayed
often when the system is turned on, set the
time and the date in setup. If this does not
resolve the error, replace the RTC Battery
(refer to section 4.12.). If this error
message or any of the other error messages
continues to display, replace the system
board (refer to section 4.9.).
Perform the FDD Troubleshooting Process.
Perform the HDD Troubleshooting Process.
Unlock the keyboard by entering the user's
password.
Perform the Keyboard Troubleshooting
Process.
Replace the memory SIMMs (refer to
section 4.11.) and test. If this error
message is displayed again, replace the
system board (refer to section 4.9.).
