(A) Replace the expansion card or device suspected of causing the problem (refer
to Chapter 4). (B) Test to determine if the problem still exists.
If the problem still exists, perform Procedure 6. If the problem no longer exists,
perform the Repair Completion Process.
Check 4
Determine if the original problem still exists.
If the original problem still exists, perform Procedure 6. If the original problem
no longer exists, perform the Repair Completion Process.
Procedure 6
The purpose of this procedure is to determine if the system can properly boot from the HDD.
To perform this procedure, begin with Check 1 and continue as instructed.
Check 1
Reboot the computer.
If DOS successfully loads, perform Procedure 9. If DOS does not successfully
load, perform Check 2.
Check 2
Determine if messages display on the screen.
If messages display on the screen, perform Check 3. If messages do not display
on the screen, perform the Monitor No Display Troubleshooting Process.
Check 3
Determine if the displayed messages are error messages.
If error messages are displayed, perform Procedure 2. If error messages are not
displayed, perform Check 4.
Check 4
Determine if the system completes the post memory test.
If the post memory test completes, perform Procedure 9. If the post memory test
does not complete, perform Procedure 7.
Procedure 7
The purpose of this procedure is to determine if damaged memory SIMMs are causing the
system to malfunction. To perform this procedure, begin with Check 1 and continue as
instructed.
Check 1
Examine the monitor's display to determine if a memory error message is
displayed.
If a memory error message is displayed, perform Check 2. If a memory error
message is not displayed, perform Procedure 8.
Check 2
(A) Replace memory SIMMs (refer to section 4.11.). (B) Test to determine if the
problem still exists.
If the problem still exists, perform Procedure 8. If the problem no longer exists,
perform Check 3.
Check 3
Determine if the original problem still exists.
If the original problem still exists, perform Procedure 9. If the original problem
no longer exists, perform the Repair Completion Process.
