Procedure 5
The purpose of this procedure is to ensure that the power supply operates properly under
load. To do this, all devices (loads) must be connected to the power supply one at a time. To
perform this procedure, begin with Check 1 and continue as instructed.
Check 1
(A) Turn the computer off. (B) Connect the P5 connector to the CD-ROM drive.
(C) Turn the computer back on. (D) Measure to determine if the correct voltages
are present at the P5 connector (12V yellow/5V red).
If the correct voltages are present at this connector, perform Check 2. If the
voltages are not correct, perform Check 3.
Check 2
(A) Inspect the CD-ROM drive data cable to ensure it is not damaged. (B) If the
data cable is damaged, replace it with a new cable (refer to section 4.1.3.2.).
(B) Connect the CD-ROM drive data cable to J9G1 on the system board.
(C) Measure to determine if the correct voltages are present at the P1 and P5
connectors.
If the correct voltages are present at these connectors, perform Procedure 6. If
the voltages are not correct, perform Check 3.
Check 3
(A) Replace the CD-ROM drive (refer to section 4.7.). (B) Measure to determine
if the correct voltages are present at the P1 and P5 connectors.
If the correct voltages are present at these connectors, perform Procedure 6. If
the voltages are not correct, perform Check 4.
Check 4
(A) Replace the system board (refer to section 4.9.). (B) Measure to determine if
the correct voltages are present at the P1 and P5 connectors.
If the correct voltages are present at these connectors, perform Procedure 6. If
the voltages are not correct, contact Toshiba technical support.
Procedure 6
The purpose of this procedure is to ensure that the power supply operates properly under
load. To do this, all expansion cards and devices (loads) must be connected to the power
supply one at a time. To perform this procedure, begin with Check 1 and continue as
instructed.
(A) Turn the computer off. (B) Reinstall  one at a time  expansion cards and

devices (refer to Chapter 4). (C) Turn the computer back on. (D) Measure to
determine if the correct voltages are present in all pins at connector P1 through
connector P6.
If the correct voltages are present at these connectors, perform Check 3. If the
voltages are not correct, perform Check 2.
