Check
whether the
indicator on
the detector
is normal.
Observe the
PWR, RUN,
and ALM
indicators.
Observe the
ALM
indicator on
the UIM20A
expansion
module.

Expected Result
The indicator
blinks once every
6 seconds. (The
interval varies with
detectors. See the
product
instructions.)
● If the PWR
indicator is
steady green,
the power input
is normal.
● The RUN
indicator blinks
at long
intervals,
indicating that
the device is
running
properly.
● The ALM
indicator is off.
The ALM indicator
is steady on.
3 Routine Maintenance
Troubleshooting
If the indicator blinks
twice every 6 seconds
or does not blink, the
smoke detector is
faulty or the cables are
not properly
connected. Check the
cables or replace the
smoke detector.
● If the PWR indicator
is off, check
whether the
communications
cable is loose or
disconnected or
whether the smart
ETH gateway is not
energized. If so,
reconnect the cable.
If not, replace the
cable.
● If the RUN indicator
is off, check
whether the
communications
cable is loose or
disconnected or
whether the smart
ETH gateway is not
energized.
● If the ALM indicator
is steady on, check
for alarms.
If the ALM indicator is
steady on, a fault
alarm is generated for
the UIM20A expansion
module. Check the
cable connections or
replace the UIM20A
expansion module.
