Note on connecting the blade server to the mains
Load management
Depending on the voltage range, you must observe the restrictions described
below on the type of power supply unit (850 W or 1200 W) and the number of
concurrently available power supply units (one or two).
The maximum active power of the different PSU types for the available voltage
range is shown in the following table (see also
Voltage range
100 - 127 V
200 -240 V
Load management restrictions
When the blade server is switched on, the management blade checks the
i
power supply situation. As there is no detailed information available on
the power supply requirements of the individual server blades at this
point, the management blade assumes the maximum value for each
server blade.
Therefore it may be possible to switch on an additional server blade later.
If, for example, none of the installed server blades has a storage
extension, there may be sufficient resources available to power another
server blade.
The following table shows that, depending on the installed power supply
!
units and the type of server blade, the maximum number of server blades
is restricted.
Type of server blades
2-way server blade
4-way server blade
Mixed configuration
In the event of a power supply overload or failure, the server blade in the
!
slot with the highest number is shut down gracefully.
