The Information Center is designed to display data from bedside and telemetry monitors
connected to Philips CareNet, which consists of the Serial Distribution Network (SDN) and
78581 System Communications Controller (SCC), or the new CareNet Controller depending
upon which version of controller you have. The controller manages communication between
the Information Center and devices connected to the SDN. The design, theory of operation,
and other information on the SDN and SCC are described in detail in the Serial Distribution
Network (SDN) 78581 System Communications Controller (SCC) Service Manual, and in
the new CareNet Controller Installation and Service Guide. Only an overview summary of the
SDN/SCC is provided here.
